Barcelona, Spain - EDV Packaging provides the best barrier for Heinz's famous soups. After a succesful launch in two different pack formats in the UK and in Australia, the product launch has been extended to the Spanish and French markets.
EDV Packaging coextrudes and thermoforms the PP/EVOH/PP white structure in the production plant located in Barcelona, Spain. The packaging offers barriers to oxygen, moisture and UV light. Due to material selection and thermoforming know-how, it withstands the rigorous thermal processing required when producing long-life ambient stable packages. The stability and protection offered by such a product along with its potential to be differentiated by design and its user-friendliness through easy-open packages and microwaveability.
A pragmatic and exclusive design
EDV Packaging has worked closely with Heinz Packaging Development team to develop an exclusive and functional design. The material selected was PP/EVOH/PP in a white colour. This combination of barriers along with additional UV inhibitors allows excellent thermal stability through a robust sterilisation process. The resulting package is sold at ambient temperatures and has been given a shelf life of 12 months. For user convenience and thanks to the properties of PolyPropylene, the package is microwaveable.
This particular cup has a diameter of 89,5mm and a height of 95mm with a brimfull capacity of 330cc. The cup has been designed with the inclusion of ribs in the side panels for two purposes: to resist deformation in processing, and to offer some insulation properties to the consumer during consumption when the product is hot.
The cup has been hermetically sealed using a transparent and peelable barrier lidding thus offering a 100% plastic barrier solution. It has been decorated with a printed shrink sleeve and an overcap is applied which assists in stacking, as a splash-guard and as a drinking spout for consumption.
All together the pack has a significant on-shelf presence and it is eye-catching and attractive to consumers who are looking for a quality product and convenience.
