Germany-based film manufacturer Extendo has introduced a new range of barrier and ultra-high-barrier films using Biaxially Oriented Polypropylene (BOPP) technology, for the food and pharmaceutical industry.
The films are produced using technological methods such as biaxial stretching, co-extrusion, and coating with aqueous solutions, and are thin and robust composite films with gas and water-vapour barriers.
Suitable for food-packaging applications, the films can also be applied as secondary packaging in the area of medical technology.
Extendo said the new packaging preserves foodstuffs from spoiling and prevents the migration of mineral oils.
The barrier packaging can also be used for coffee and powdered drinks packaging, as lid and flow-pack-film for meat, poultry, and cheese, or in the area of snacks and dried products.
