Attiki, Greece’s top-selling honey has been given a packaging revamp as part of a bid to roll the brand out nationally across the UK.
The premium Greek thyme and wild flora honey has been selling until now in fine food retailers, including Harrods, Harvey Nichols and Fortnum & Mason, and independent stores specialising in Mediterranean products.
But it has proved so successful that the Greek family company behind the brand – Attiki-Pittas – has earmarked it for a launch into major supermarket and wholesale chains, backed by a fresh new look developed specifically for the UK market.
The company commissioned marketing agency Broccoli Marketing to create a stylish new label and lid for the honey to communicate its premium brand values and maximise shelf stand-out in the competitive honey aisle. The new-look jar is available now through UK importer and distributor John & Pascalis.
Attiki is a rich, aromatic single-provenance Greek honey produced by bees that collect nectar from hundreds of wild flowers and trees that grow naturally on the islands and mountain sides of Greece.
Many of these plant species are unique to the Greek countryside and are found nowhere else in the world. Among the plants most frequented by the bees is thyme, which gives Attiki a distinctive flavour with hints of this fragrant and popular herb.
All honey marketed by Attiki-Pittas, which was founded in 1928, is hand-harvested in the traditional manner by artisan beekeepers. Each batch of honey is traceable back to the original harvester, guaranteeing provenance and maintaining quality and consistency.
Attiki is 100% pure honey and, unlike some other honeys, contains no additives whatsoever. It is extremely versatile and tastes as great on toast as it does stirred into yoghurt, mixed with porridge or used as an ingredient in indulgent desserts such as ice cream sundaes. RRP is £5.49 for a 227g jar and £9.99 for a 455g jar.
