Green & Black’s is celebrating the 18th birthday of its Maya Gold bar – the first Fairtrade-certified chocolate product in the UK – by launching a limited edition pack.
Incorporating traditional Mayan artwork as a homage to the bar’s origins, the new design hopes to create standout on shelf.
The limited edition pack has been created to promote awareness of Fairtrade in the UK, during Fairtrade Fortnight (27 February and 11 March 2012).
Erin Kennedy, Senior Brand Manager for Green & Black’s said: “As the UK’s no. 1 premium chocolate brand with a market share of 39.5%, we are in a strong position to promote awareness of Fairtrade in the UK.
“By launching a Maya Gold limited edition pack – a firm favourite of chocolate lovers nationwide – we aim to reinforce the brand’s credentials and its position as a world leader in Fairtrade chocolate.
“The limited edition packaging will create stand-out on shelf, drive awareness and sales and support the Fairtrade Foundation and its Fairtrade Fortnight initiative.
“We expect the limited edition Maya Gold pack to be well received by consumers, so we advise retailers to stock up in time for Fairtrade Fortnight to prepare for an increased demand and to maximise profits.”
The limited edition Maya Gold pack will be available in all major supermarkets and independent stores in the UK and the Republic of Ireland, RRP £2.29.
