Influenced by the growing environmental awareness and cost consciousness from the consumers' side, the retail sector wants no-nonsense egg packaging that does no more than what it is aimed at, thus pack and protect. The pack has to go back to basics and offer pure functionality. The answer to this demand is the new ECOM® traypack from Huhtamaki. Stripped of all frills and surplus packaging materials, the ECOM® traypack puts an important environmentally-friendly weapon into the hands of egg packers and retail sector, helping in reducing costs and strengthening their competitive position. Despite this stripping concept, Huhtamaki has managed yet again to give the ECOM® traypack a striking appearance. Unlike the other traypacks, the ECOM® traypack consists of two hinge-linked trays, each for 9 eggs of between 53 and 73 grams. A small information sticker can be applied on the hinge side. The dimensions are 300 x 150 mm, height 68 mm. Full ECOM® traypacks are effortlessly and stably stacked in transport packs and on shelves, nested if required. This achieves a 16 mm reduction in height per packaging unit, which means that more packs can be transported and stored. Re-pressing guarantees easy de-nesting and automatic workability on existing packaging machines. With the new no-nonsense ECOM® traypack, Huhtamaki proves once more that innovation is its trademark.
