NDRI senior scientist K Jayaraj Rao, principal scientist C N Pagote said that the global market for TDPs is about ($546,316).
The institute has made several innovations such as mechanization of manufacturing processes, development of low calorie products, membrane processing, retort processing, osmotic dehydration, quick freezing technology, and sugar crystallization.
Milk currently holds 67% of the livestock gross domestic product (GDP), 22% of agricultural GDP and about 5.5% of the national GDP. Household and non-organised sector together handle about 82% of the sector, while the organized sector contributes 18%.
About 50% of the total milk production is used in the manufacturing of indigenous dairy products and the market value for Indian milk products is valued at about $11bn.
