Ishida Showcases Variety of Packing Solutions at Hispack

The variety of weighing and quality control equipment on display from Ishida Europe at Hispack will underline the company’s ability to deliver packaging solutions for a wide range of products. Highlights include two weigher and bagmaker combinations for the snacks industry, an ultra-hygienic multihead weigher and a compact linear version for low target weight applications, and a model from Ishida’s advanced X-ray range.
Ishida’s entry-level First Range weigher/bagmaker combination offers an economic, medium speed solution that delivers a fast payback on a reduced investment cost while ensuring consistent weights, pack quality and seal integrity. The 14-head CCW-SE economy weigher is combined with a rotary motion Atlas-114 bagmaker, delivering speeds of up to 90 bags per minute.
The Atlas features servo-motors and software controlled variable seal time, jaw temperature and pressure that allow the handling of many film types, including standard, metallised, recyclable and biodegradable. Stripping plates clear the seal area before sealing, which ensures good pack quality, and servo driven and vacuum assisted pull down belts enable accurate and consistent bag lengths to maximise film use and optimise pack presentation. A user-friendly operator interface includes integrated self-diagnostics and a colour touch-screen. This allows easy and rapid transfers between bag types and film, and minimises downtime
The Atlas bagmaker is also being showcased as part of Ishida’s market-leading iTPS (Integrated Total Packaging System). Incorporating an Ishida CCW-RV-214 multihead weigher and DACS-G-015 checkweigher, this integrated snacks packing solution is capable of speeds in excess of 180 bpm.
Ishida’s latest multihead weigher range, the RV, delivers the highest levels of accuracy of any multihead weigher and, in addition to consistent weighing at close-to-zero giveaway, is now some 15% faster. On show at Hispack is the range’s most hygienic waterproof (WP) version. IP rating tests carried out at a leading UK independent testing centre have proved that its design and assembly consistently comply with the highest industry standards. These relate to dust and water ingress resistance, including the most stringent IP-69K test. This compliance means these weighers are more water resistant than ever before and are perfectly suited to applications where equipment has to be thoroughly sanitized.
The Ishida CCW-R-112-P linear multihead weigher has been designed for low target weight applications such as nuts, confectionery, and dehydrated vegetables. It offers gentle handling and a controlled flow of product combined with excellent accuracy and high speeds of up 180 packs per minute. In addition, short drop distances minimise breakages when handling fragile or coated products. The weigher’s compact dimensions make it easy to fit into any space and it is simple to operate and clean, with an intuitive user interface and contact parts that can be removed without tools.
Ishida’s advanced high performance X-ray inspection system, the IX-GA-4075, can reliably detect even tiny amounts of foreign bodies down to 0.3mm in size, such as steel, aluminium, tin, glass, stones, hard rubber, plastic, some bones and shell. Ishida’s unique Genetic Algorithm (GA) technology enables operators to ‘train’ the X-ray system for greater sensitivity to specific contaminants. In addition, it can spot missing, undersized and mis-shaped items or damaged products, and the software allows product masking and weight estimations.
