When Minnesota-based MOM Brands decided to capitalize on the popularity of their Mini-Spooners SKU with grocery shoppers, the breakfast cereal maker tapped Minneapolis design consultancy Ideas that Kick for branding and packaging concepts.
“Our Spooners package design had to work on bags as well as boxes,” adds Stefan Hartung, Kick creative director. “Articulating the brand story required the perfect balance of descriptors, nutritional benefits, cross-sell messaging and tasty flavor cues. Our color palette for the brand creates a bold billboard effect to differentiate Spooners on shelf.
“Larger-than-life product and flavor cue photos whet consumer appetites,” Hartung continues. “Stacked cereal biscuits visually depict the balanced breakfast a bowl of Spooners represents.”
Spooners are currently available in select Walmart stores.
