CROWN Aerosols Europe, a business unit of Crown Holdings, Inc., has installed a new four-color printing line at its plant in Deurne, near Antwerp in Belgium.
The addition is part of Crown’s initiative to standardize print operations across all European aerosols plants in order to offer the highest level of print quality to customers throughout the region.
The line replaces Crown’s existing two-color printers and streamlines the decorating process, as it lays down four-colors in a single pass instead of going through two separate double-deck machines. This simplification offers more flexibility for customers to implement marketing and promotional campaigns by freeing up additional plant capacity for new projects.
Eliminating the need for a two-step printing process also translates into increased precision and reduced handling for improvements in overall quality. The Deurne plant is also now able to address a wider spectrum of printing needs for aerosol cans, allowing consumer goods companies to get to market with high quality graphics that increase product appeal and shelf impact.
The new printing line also supports Crown’s sustainability goals. It uses UV inks and coatings instead of conventional products that must be cured in a gas oven, leading to a reduction in energy use and environmental impact.
“Packaging is the direct interface between consumers and a brand. For brands to successfully connect with consumers, packaging must reflect the quality of the product inside,” said Lee Bradley, Business Development Director, CROWN Aerosols Europe. “The investment in our Belgian plant enables us to better support our customers, ensuring they can get to market with highly effective packaging that stands out on the shelf.”
