Borealis is highlighting its focus on advances for the pharmaceutical and healthcare packaging sector at "K 2010" with its "Bormed" range of high performance polyolefins. Two of the company's latest developments, "Bormed" LE6601PH for flexible and ampoules for IV SC820CF pouches are on display at the show in Dusseldorf, Germany.
LE6601PH was developed to meet the health care market's increasing focus on self-administered medications. Simple-to-squeeze ampoules based on the material allow users to dispense treatments examined as eye, ear and nose drops without professional assistance. It is an LDPE with good transparency and is suitable for single-use ampoules for self-administered medications that Do Not require post-steam sterilization.
SC820CF has been developed for primary and secondary medical pouches and is a random copolymer PP Heterophasic for cast and blown film applications that combines softness with toughness, is steam sterilisable and maintains good optical and mechanical properties after retorting. It is intended as a blending component or layer coextrusion for primary pouches for IV solutions, dialysis fluids and nutrition.
