Rexam supports Canella in celebrating the start of 2011
Rexam helped Canella Wine to bring in the New Year 2011 with style, by supplying FUSION bottles for its well known Bellini wine drink. The 20,000 bottles were handed out at a new year’s eve party hosted in St Mark’s Square in Venice, where tens of thousands followed with tradition to see out the old year and bring in the new.
The FUSION bottles were produced at Rexam’s Epjovice plant in the Czech Republic and contained Canella’s only Bellini drink, a sparking Italian white wine and peach cocktail. The 25cl bottles were the first aluminium bottles, and different type of packaging, to be used by Canella, with Bellini usually only available in glass bottles.
Mr. Lorenza Canella, owner of Canella, explained why they chose the FUSION bottle, “We were looking for a new and safe packaging option. Glass is not permitted at many public events and we did not believe plastic had the right qualities to house our Bellini drink. The FUSION bottles suited our needs perfectly. The innovative and attractive packaging, helped to enhance our brand and the single serve size was ideal for this event.”
Rexam worked closely with Canella to make sure the bottles were produced in time for New Years Eve, with good teamwork and organisation needed across all parts of the production team.
Gary Aslam, European Customer Service & Regional Sales Director for Rexam Beverage Can, commented on the co-ordination needed to produce the bottles: “We were really pleased with the way the teams involved pulled together from across the sector to ensure we met the deadline. These included our Customer Technical Services team gaining line approval, graphics to process the artwork, the Italian sales team to liaise with the customer and the team at our Ejpovice plant to arrange manufacturer and line conversion. This was all co-ordinated by customer services both locally in Italy and centrally here in the UK.”
