Sealed Air Cryovac Opens Food Packaging Lab
The facility is equipped with microwave and traditional ovens to allow the firm to run tests on the thermal treatment of prepared food.
22/07/08 Sealed Air Cryovac will generate scientific data to show its customers the value of packaging at its new food packaging laboratory at its plant in Italy. The facility is equipped with microwave and traditional ovens to allow the firm to run tests on the thermal treatment of prepared food.
Sealed Air said the collected data would enable comparisons to be made between different packs when subjected to different types of heat treatment, including pasteurisation. The firm's ready meal application support group runs the food packaging laboratory, which complements its ready meal training facility in Paris.
Sealed Air has developed a new range of overlap-sealable, multilayer coextruded shrink bags for cheese. It said the Cryovac OSB 4550 was particularly suited to low-gassing cheese products.
