UFlex has received an Indian patent for its reclosable packaging solution with a tampering detection feature and barrier properties for large-format bags. The solution is designed for products that require reclosable packaging, including pet food, coffee, protein supplements, flour, pharmaceutical ingredients, fertilizers, chemicals, and other industrial products.
The packaging solution features a thin protective layer under a zipper. The design prevents access to the contents of the bag unless the protective layer is removed or torn, providing a visual identification of tampering. The zipper offers an integrated barrier structure that facilitates the reclosure of the bag to ensure the protection of the product from environmental factors, including moisture, gases, and contaminants.
The solution’s secure reclosure, tampering detection feature, and barrier protection help it stand out from other reclosable flexible packaging solutions on the market, according to the multinational flexible packaging company based in India.

It must protect product integrity throughout its lifecycle while giving consumers confidence that the packaging is secure and has not been opened before purchase.”
“This innovation is particularly relevant for products that are vulnerable to package tampering, product substitution, and counterfeiting. By combining a feature to detect tampering, enhanced barrier protection, and secure reclosure, it helps brand owners safeguard product authenticity, preserve brand reputation, and strengthen consumer confidence."
Meeting protection requirements
UFlex points out that a large pack of pet food or protein powder may be opened and resealed many times over several weeks. “Brand owners, retailers and wholesalers, and consumers need the assurance that the package has remained unopened before the first use and that the remaining contents continue to be protected throughout repeated use.”
“UFlex’s patented solution addresses these requirements in a single package by combining product security, convenience, and long-term protection.”
The company adds that the packaging’s barrier properties can be tailored to suit different products’ protection requirements. It is also an integrated solution designed to remove the need for additional sealing, which UFlex says makes it practical and cost-effective.
At PlastIndia 2026, UFlex launched its CeruFlex 500 high-speed gravure printing machine, which it developed in collaboration with the Italian Gravtech.
