Amcor secures RecyClass certification for PCR pallet stretch films

The Recycled Plastic Traceability Certification (EN15343) validates that Amcor’s stretch films contain defined levels of post-consumer recycled (PCR) content.
The international flexible packaging producer explains that the certification enables brands to prepare for the UK’s Plastic Packaging Tax (PPT) reform in 2027.
“Certification strengthens customer confidence that their packaging choices support compliance with evolving regulations,” says Gabriele Ditsch, sales director at Amcor.
“Our certified Bontite Sustane stretch films provide independent assurance of recycled content claims and reinforce Amcor’s ability to scale verified PCR solutions across industrial and secondary packaging.”
Pallet wrap performance
The Bontite range features a blown linear low-density PE stretch wrap design to secure palletized goods during transport. According to Amcor, the range has high holding force, puncture resistance, and stretch performance depending on specification and application.
When the UK’s PPT comes into effect in April 2027, pre‑consumer recycled content will no longer count towards the 30% threshold and, as Amcor explains, only PCR content will be accepted.
Earlier this year, the European Commission exempted pallet straps and wrapping from the EU’s 100% reuse requirement in the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation. The packaging items are now subject to a 40% reuse requirement, after a study found that “exclusive use” of reusable pallet wrappings and straps for transport could lead to disproportionate adaptation costs for companies.
Evidencing recycled content
Amcor explains that the RecyClass certification verifies that PCR content in finished products has been independently audited and is traceable throughout production and aligned with recognized European standards.
