Versatility and Variety from Ishida

At Ipack Ima, weighing and quality control solutions that encompass everything from small target weights to difficult-to-handle products across a wide range of end markets and applications will provide a comprehensive demonstration of Ishida Europe’s wide-ranging capabilities. Models on display from the company’s extensive product portfolio include an advanced integrated weigher/bagmaker combination for snacks, a number of specialist multihead weighers and its market-leading X-ray inspection system.

Ishida’s snacks packing solution, the Ishida iTPS (Integrated Total Packaging System), comprises an Ishida CCW-RV-214 multihead weigher, Atlas-114 bagmaker and DACS-G-015 checkweigher, and is capable of speeds in excess of 180 bpm.

The Atlas features servo-motors and software controlled variable seal time, jaw temperature and pressure that allow the handling of many film types, including standard, metallised, recyclable and biodegradable. Stripping plates clear the seal area before sealing, which ensures good pack quality, and servo driven and vacuum assisted pull down belts enable accurate and consistent bag lengths to maximise film use and optimise pack presentation. A user-friendly operator interface includes integrated self-diagnostics and a colour touch-screen. This allows easy and rapid transfers between bag types and film, and minimises downtime.

Among the multihead weighers on display, the Ishida ‘Lilliput’ CCW-M-214W-005-SS delivers excellent accuracy and efficiency levels close to 100% at a top speed of 120wpm. The 14-head weigher can handle target weights from 0.5 to 40g, making it ideal for applications such as tea, soup ingredients, nuts, confectionery, dehydrated vegetables and spices and herbs. A small footprint of just 650 x 650mm, and maximum height of only 970mm, means the weigher can fit into any factory, saving valuable floor space.

Another compact, low target weight solution on show is the Ishida CCW-R-112-P, a linear multihead version. It offers gentle handling and a controlled flow of product combined with excellent accuracy and high speeds of up 180 packs per minute. In addition, short drop distances minimise breakages when handling fragile or coated products. The weigher is simple to operate and clean, with an intuitive user interface and contact parts that can be removed without tools.

The Ishida CCW-M-106 Fresh Food Weigher, meanwhile, offers an ideal solution for the effective handling and weighing of sticky products such as meat, poultry, fish and fresh and dried fruit. It features a linear design, with weigh hoppers fed by belts from an infeed table where an operator can be positioned to help direct and control the flow of product to ensure a regular and consistent supply to all hoppers for consistent weighing accuracy.

For maximum hygiene applications where equipment needs to be thoroughly sanitized, Ishida’s waterproof (WP) version of its latest RV multihead range provides unsurpassed dust and water ingress resistance, including the most stringent IP-69K test. The RV range also delivers the highest levels of accuracy of any multihead weigher and, in addition to consistent weighing at close-to-zero giveaway, is now some 15% faster.

Ishida’s advanced high performance X-ray inspection system, the IX-GA-4075, can reliably detect even tiny amounts of foreign bodies down to 0.3mm in size, such as steel, aluminium, tin, glass, stones, hard rubber, plastic, some bones and shell.

The system incorporates Ishida’s unique Genetic Algorithm (GA) technology, which enables operators to ‘train’ the IX-GA-4075 for greater sensitivity to specific contaminants. In addition, it can spot missing, undersized and mis-shaped items or damaged products, and the software allows product masking and weight estimations.
