Globally, countries and organizations seek to reduce carbon emissions and fuel consumptions. The Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs has recently launched a program to give Dutch companies a tax incentive – when investing – to buy the most fuel and energy efficient equipment.
When the program was launched, one of the larger manufacturers of baked goods was looking for his next oven line. Having the incentive program in mind, it was relevant to seek for the best practice oven system in terms of energy consumption without compromising the end product quality. This is why Aasted was given the task to configure the Conny convection oven in the best possible way, taking both fuel consumption and end product quality into consideration. After a careful study of the existing baking curves, water release curves, humidity profiles and potential savings in energy – Aasted suggested an oven configuration with both direct and indirect heat recovery of the oven exhausts.
The project was carefully assessed by specialists working for the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and was hereafter approved as best practice and a major step forward in relation to the existing traditional setup in the factory.
The new oven(s) were approved, built and commissioned – and according to the customer, the end product quality exceeds the traditionally baked products. Recently, Aasted has received a formal confirmation of the approval from the Dutch Minister of Economic Affairs.
