The dairy received funding from the Environmental Transformation Fund for Clearfleau’s anaerobic treatment and energy plant. The ETF is administered by the Waste and Resources Action Programme on behalf of the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and Department of Energy and Climate Change.
The system can handle a range of organic materials, including liquid bio-wastes such as sugars, oils and fats. It will also reduce the fuel bill for the site and cut the carbon footprint for the dairy, according to the supplier.
