Plasticum Develops Exclusive CLUBE Packaging for L'Oreal

5/10/2011 --- Plasticum has developed a customised CLUBE exclusively for L’Oréal. Distinguishing features and unconventional designs that seemed to be impossible in the past, now become reality with Plasticum’s innovative and patented CLUBE technology. The special CLUBE with two separate chambers opens up a whole new world for L’Oréal’s cosmetic applications.
Last year Plasticum launched the CLUBE, a one-piece bi-injection moulded tube with integrated closure and In-Mould-Label. The injection moulding process in combination with innovative tooling techniques releases the constraints of the extrusion process that is commonly used for the manufacturing of tubes. The CLUBE production is undeniably challenging and was first exposed at the K 2010 in Düsseldorf. The market was amazed by this ambitious technology and the advantages the new packaging concept offers, such as up to 40% material savings.
Besides environmental and cost benefits, the CLUBE also gives another alluring advantage: design freedom. Exactly this unique strength appealed to L’Oréal. They developed two-component cosmetic applications, but never found the right packaging to materialise this. How to keep two formulations apart, dispense them simultaneously in a practical and user-friendly packaging? The CLUBE technology gave the welcome solution.
The L’Oréal CLUBE including In-Mould-Label is produced in one single moulding step. The body and flip-top closure are fully integrated and form just one part. The body contains two separate chambers that can be filled with two different formulations. The closure consequently has two orifices to dispense the two formulations. As soon as these formulations are mixed, they react chemically to develop the right effect. The In-Mould-Label features silver contours and grey metallic parts. This two-component concept can be used for many different personal care applications.
