Coca-Cola Bottlers’ Sales & Services Company (CCBSS), the Coca-Cola entity purchasing aluminum can sheet for the Coca-Cola System in North America, and aluminum rolled products manufacturer Novelis have signed an agreement for the supply of aluminum can sheet.
The agreement, which took effect 1 January 2012 covers the supply of aluminum can body stock, can end stock and can tab stock to the various producers of beverage cans for Coca-Cola in North America.
As part of the multi-year contract, Novelis will remain as the primary supplier of aluminum can sheet to Coca-Cola.
CCBSS president and chief executive Mark Shaughnessy said the new agreement sets the stage for the companies to collaboratively drive increases in packaging recovery and re-use.
The agreement will also allow the companies to bring the recycling and sustainability benefits of the aluminum can to drinkers of Coca-Cola products throughout North America.
Novelis president and chief executive Phil Martens said the partnership between Coca-Cola and Novelis reflects a commitment to the environment on the part of both companies.
He added: “Coca-Cola has been a highly valued customer for many years and we are pleased that this new agreement allows us to continue to bring the recycling and sustainability benefits of the aluminum can to drinkers of Coca-Cola products throughout North America.”
None of the parties have disclosed terms of the contract.
