Concept4 and Vessl launch customizable and refillable foundation tube
Key takeaways
- Concept4 has introduced Mix & Fix, a customizable foundation tube with a unique mixing mechanism.
- The refillable design reduces packaging waste and condenses 60 foundation shades into 20.
- The Mix & Fix solution will be featured at Paris Packaging Week, February 5–6.

Concept4, a Hong Kong-based beauty packaging company, has launched the Mix & Fix foundation tube in collaboration with Vessl, a US-based packaging company. The solution features a cartridge that mixes two shades of foundation, allowing consumers to customize the product to their skin tone.
The tube entails Vessl’s patented mixing technology, a refillable system with two removable cartridges plugged into a dial mechanism that pumps and blends the two foundation shades.
“Mix & Fix is proof that patented innovation doesn’t have to be complicated. We’ve created a system that is simple for consumers, scalable for brands, and sustainable for the planet,” says Courtney Haley, business development manager and primary pack specialist at Concept4.
The personal care packaging company will showcase the solution at Paris Packaging Week, February 5–6.
Mix & Fix condenses 60 foundation shades into 20, streamlining production and inventory. Moreover, the refillable cartridge design can reduce packaging waste.
The rise of refill
Concept4 explains that Mix & Fix addresses two of the beauty industry’s current challenges: inclusivity and sustainability. The solution enables consumers to create their own shade of foundation, offering flexibility, while the refillable design can reduce environmental impact.
Concept4 says: “This patented system is intuitive and universally adaptable, making it easy for any makeup brand to integrate into their product portfolio without sacrificing identity or aesthetics.”
Refillable systems are increasingly popular as consumers value sustainable and pollution-reducing solutions.
Recently, Act Beauty, a France-based beauty and luxury packaging company, developed an on-the-go, refillable, perfume spray bottle in response to “evolving nomadic beauty practices.”
Meanwhile, beauty packaging manufacturer Quadpack equipped Marini SkinSolutions with refillable technology and premium bottles and tubes for its rebranded skin care range. Over 50 products are packaged in fully recyclable and partially recycled materials.
