DS Smith Double Winner at The Most Prestigious Packaging Luxury Awards During Luxe Pack Fair 2015

02 Nov 2015 --- DS Smith was awarded two of the “Formes de Luxe” awards recently in Monaco. The awards were handed out in the presence of the biggest names from the world of luxury brand during an unforgettable evening ceremony at the Monte-Carlo Sporting.

A jury of professionals, gathered by Formes de Luxe magazine on Oct. 22, chose the winners from a shortlist of packaging products that had been selected by online users in a number of different categories. The Moët Gift 3.0 won the Award in the Folding Cartons category and the Naturally Clicquot won in the Eco-Conception category.

The prize-winning Moët Gift 3.0 beat out another DS Smith contender in the Folding Cartons category. In the end, the judges selected the Moët Gift 3.0 over an elegant solution that had been developed for Martell VSOP.

The Naturally Clicquot packaging is the result of three years of research and development and represents a breakthrough in eco-friendly design. The fully recyclable and biodegradable packaging has a unique natural tint due to the use of grape resins left over from the wine making process. This revolutionary technique saved 5.2 tonnes of virgin fibres.

For the Moët Gift 3.0, the gilded, rounded effect required an extremely precise cutting of the letters "MOËT" in a rectangular carton to reveal the golden wrapping inserted inside, made from a single diecut, the texture effect was also worked with graining on the four surfaces and gold-pressed embossing on the logo. A total of eight manufacturing steps and as many machine runs with no offsetting were necessary in order to create this very striking presentation box. 

The awards ceremony was a highlight of the 2015 edition of the Luxe Pack fair in Monaco; which was from October 21st to 23rd. DS Smith Consumer Packaging attended along with the other international leaders of packaging and materials from cosmetics, perfumes, wines and spirits, delicatessen and more.

The commercial teams from a number of DS Smith Packaging Consumer plants were there proudly displaying their printing technologies (offset, flexo, digital and screen printing) and numerous finishing techniques (varnish, lamination, embossing, debossing, hot stamping, etc.). Folding cartons, layers and packaging obtained thanks to this unique expertise enhance the brand and guarantee the perfect protection of the products.
