DuPont Cosmetics Packaging Launches Surlyn® Pc-2200 At Luxe Pack 2015
DuPont once again proposes innovation and creativity to the visitors of its stand at Luxe Pack Monaco this year with the launch of the new grade DuPont™ Surlyn® PC-2200. The development of this new material by DuPont Packaging & Industrial Polymers fits in the desire to offer brands even more freedom in the design of packaging and to therefore push the limits of creativity. Indeed, this new grade brings together all the exceptional properties of Surlyn® - crystalline transparency, high gloss, chemical resistance, excellent resistance to scratches and abrasion, a pleasant touch - while proving easier to implement.
DuPont opens new opportunities to designers who may possibly have been hindered in the design of their packaging by technical implementation constraints. With Surlyn® PC-2200, designers working for perfume and cosmetics brands can therefore explore other creative avenues to develop surprising caps and more daring bottles. DuPont wants to enrich the collection of spectacular caps in which objects or images can be encapsulated into the Surlyn® as is the case of those presented these past years.
Surlyn® PC-2200 is also designed to expand the range of over-molded decorative effects available such as the inclusion of textile decoration, metallic labels and other decorative technologies. It makes it possible to provide protection for the decoration it covers and transforms each element thanks to the high gloss and depth of color provided while playing on the thicknesses of the over-molding. DuPont’s cosmetics solutions also include an unique recently introduced portfolio of polyesters, DuPont™ Crastin® PBT and renewably sourced DuPont™ Sorona® Ep Ptt, both compliant with European and US cosmetics and food-contact regulations. These high-performance plastics, offered as alternatives to current cosmetics packaging solutions, can provide beautiful aesthetics and excellent mechanical properties in contact with cosmetics formulations. In addition to its superior mechanical and aesthetic performance, DuPont™ Sorona® EP provides additional environmental benefits as it contains up to 37 percent bio-based ingredients. These new developments will be presented on the DuPont stand, in the heart of the ‘Maison Surlyn® designed and laid out as a luxury boutique to highlight the creative potential of DuPont’s cosmetics solutions. This year again, its design will be entrusted to the Italian designer Francesco Lucchese, who was inspired by the latest trends in fashion and design.
