In addition to a range of other x-ray technologies, the company will be showcasing the model at the forthcoming Pack Expo 2012 trade show in Chicago, which will run from October 28-31.
The machine is aimed at improving production line efficiency for manufacturers of meat, dairy and poultry products, while complying with the strictest hygiene requirements at a global level.
A spokeswoman for Eagle said the Pack 400 HC is more compact than previous systems: “Its footprint is smaller, so it takes up less space on the production line.”
Energy consumption less
In addition, it has a built-in water-cooled heat exchanger system, so has no need for a separate air conditioned cooling unit. As a result, she said: “The energy consumption is less.”
The robust construction features thicker stainless steel plates cut and welded together, rather than bolted, eliminating areas where food debris can build up. The machine is also capable of withstanding the impact of repeated use of harsh chemical cleaners and pressurized water.
It is calibrated to detect a wide range of contaminants including metal, glass, stone and bone. However, it also integrates capabilities to check mass, evaluate fill levels and analyze fat content.
Minimising downtime
In addition, its features are designed to allow its conveyor belt to run smoothly, retaining its position even if it becomes wet or greasy, minimizing downtime caused by belt damage or slippage.
The Eagle brand was previously owned by Smiths Detection, a business which was acquired by Swiss firm Mettler-Toledo last year, although it operates largely as a standalone enterprise.
