Elysian Brewing Company announced the release of a limited saison new to package, Saison Elysee. The brew was first debuted in 2003 with a limited, draft-only offering at Elysian’s Capitol Hill brewpub. Saison Elysee is a unique saison brewed with Munich, Caravienne, Wheat, Caramunich, and Premium 2-Row malt perfectly blended with German Northern Brewer and Czech Saaz hops. An unexpected hint of cumin adds a complexity and subtle spiciness to the light-bodied farmhouse ale with an ABV of 6.4%. “Elysee is spicy, earthy, and, fruity all at once,” said Head Brewer Josh Waldman. “The complexity, along with the ebb and flow of its flavors over time make this a great beer to drink fresh as well as after some aging”.
Saison Elysee delivers an alluring flavor and an unquestionable individuality, which is complemented by its uniquely designed label. The Saison Elysee label is hand embroidered over a fabric print with different stitching techniques to highlight the ingredients and integrate real cumin seeds. The final artwork used for the label is an eye-catching, textured photograph of the original design. Saison Elysee is the second specialty saison released by Elysian this year, preceded by the release of Saison Poivre, a vibrant and refreshing saison brewed with a blend of black, white, and green peppercorns layered beneath the bright fruitiness of pink peppercorns.
For a limited time, Saison Elysee can be found in 22 oz bottles and on draft in select U.S. markets including Arizona, Alaska, California, Colorado, Delaware, Hawaii, Idaho, Maryland, Montana, Nevada, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania and Washington. Seattleites can also find the beer at Elysian’s restaurant locations: Capitol Hill, Tangletown, Elysian Fields, and Elysian Bar.
