FachPack 2021: Sealed Air to showcase pandemic-proof “phone box” to connect with remote packaging experts
20 Sep 2021 --- Sealed Air is preparing to showcase its new See More digital technology platform for enhanced packaging equipment performance and functionality at FachPack 2021 in Nuremberg, Germany (September 28-30).
Speaking to PackagingInsights, Steve Dougan, fulfillment platform director EMEA at Sealed Air, describes the invention and its implications for the post-pandemic future.
“See More is a type of next-generation phone box, which allows people to engage in live conversations and real-time demonstrations with our Packforum experts. This means we can overcome any travel challenges associated with the pandemic and provide visitors with access to our full range of solutions.”
At FachPack, Sealed Air will demonstrate its See More concept, following a successful introduction at SITL 2021 in Paris, France. The on-stand communications portal will enable visitors to connect with experts from Sealed Air’s center of packaging excellence and innovation at the Packforum in Milan, Italy.
The FasFIl Jr and Bubble Wrap Inflator
Sealed Air will also exhibit its new FasFil Jr and Bubble Wrap Inflator at FachPack. Both systems have been developed to enable companies to efficiently and effectively scale up from low to medium volume packaging outputs.
FasFil Jr is a paper void-fill system, while Bubble Wrap Inflator produces on-demand inflatable cushioning, pouches or air pillows.
The different systems deliver performance suited to medium volume output retailers and fulfillment companies, including tiny system footprints, easy setup and operation, and optimal uptime.
“The two new solutions have been designed to provide companies with speed, reliability and ease of use. They are ‘plug and play’ user-friendly systems that can be quickly configured to adjust packaging according to the product being protected or the production run,” explains Dougan.
“Bubble Wrap Inflator is compatible with 80 types of Bubble Wrap brand materials, while FasFil Jr converts 380 mm fanfold paper in 50 gsm or 57 gsm weights and has multiple operating modes including cut and hold manual, and custom sized outputs.”
The Cryovac DM100
F&B companies attending FachPack 2021 will also be privy to Sealed Air’s Cryovac brand, which supports processors and retailers in protecting food quality and safety.
On-stand demonstrations of the new Cryovac DM100 Darfresh on Tray vacuum skin packaging machine will show a high speed, zero scrap tray skin solution that can reduce film usage by up to 40% compared to standard tray skin solutions.
This year, the company promoted its Cryovac LID830R solution, measuring at 33 microns thick, contrasting to typically used laminates that range from 60 to 100 micrometers thick.
In June, Sealed Air also unveiled the lightweightTM-Ply, a 100% recyclable thermoformable food web, supporting its target of a fully recyclable or reusable product portfolio by 2025.
