Cermex specialises in the design and manufacture of end of line machinery for film and cardboard packaging as well as solutions in palletisation.

In recent months, the actors in the supply chain have been rethinking their secondary packaging with a view to meeting supermarket requirements:

- Reduction in the cost of stocking shelves (saving in time),
- Easy-to-open packaging,
- Enhanced product display (promotional packaging),
- Easy shelf-maintenance and re-stocking,
- Reduction in packaging cost (frequent topic),
- Reduction in waste, non-recyclable materials and the combination of 2 materials (in particular cardboard + film).

III – REPERCUSSIONS ON SECONDARY PACKAGING

These requirements have led to the creation or return to the scene of attractive packaging solutions:
- RSC with pre-cut perforations,
- Half case + lid,
- Patricia case,
- Wrap-around case with short flaps and/or pre-cut perforations,
- Tray (with high, low or sloping sides) + lid (U or cross-shaped, internal or external, glued or not),
- Tray with ledges.

4.1. Single-function machines

4.2. Multi-function machines (Forming/Loading/Gluing)

- WB45 Wrap-Around Packer: up to 35 blanks/min (full wrap-around, with short flaps, trays with ledges)
- BB45 Tray Packer: up to 25 trays/min (all types of tray)

4.3. New development: F550 Multi-Packaging Erector

Cermex has recently developed a multi-packaging forming solution. The F550 model is designed to handle full and half RSC, but above all assembles a low tray and half case which can then be detached so the products can be slid directly onto the supermarket shelf. This new machine can be easily integrated instead of a traditional case former in either new production lines or existing ones to meet the SRP requirements detailed above.

Two patent applications have been made for technical processes used on this machine.
