Jim's Organic Coffee is Leading the Movement Toward Environmentally Friendly Packaging!
Besides the new packaging and the fact that we are all organic, Jim's Organic Coffee uses 100% renewable energy sources and was one of the first to supply customers with fully compostable Ecotainer cups.
03/09/07 Jim's Organic Coffee, a 100% organic coffee roaster, has unveiled a redesigned package that holds the same interesting, amazing coffee their customers have come to expect, in an updated design that is bolder, fresher and the first to be environmentally friendly too!
The new bags are the first sealed coffee bags to use renewable sources in their composition. With a layer of modified Polylactide (PLA), which is derived from corn, 19% of its layering is renewable. Petroleum-based components of the structure are replaced with renewable resources, which dramatically improve the bag's "green-ness." Jim's Organic Coffee is proud to be a leader in this first step to responsible packaging.
"This is the first generation of sealed coffee bags to be made from renewable resources and we are delighted to be the first roaster to use them. After 15 years in this business, I feel that we finally have a bag that tells the organic coffee story in a simple way and offers consumers the transparency they are looking for. We have accomplished this without changing the overall look and feel of our festive bag that is associated with our consistently amazing coffee, without losing the fun edge and without being 'preachy' about the cool things we do to help farmers and our ecosystem," Jim Cannell says.
Besides the new packaging and the fact that we are all organic, Jim's Organic Coffee uses 100% renewable energy sources and was one of the first to supply customers with fully compostable Ecotainer cups. In order to maintain positive social and ecological impact, Jim's supports specific projects in coffee growing regions by offering fair wages for workers, buying shade grown coffee, which provides bird habitat, and supporting organic agriculture that sustains vital ecosystems.
