The Mentholatum Co.'s Natural Ice line of medicated lip balms is packaged in handsome tubes that are sleeve-labeled with help from Seal-It. The decorative shrink labels combine tamper-evidence with glossy graphics and product information. The 2-mil, heat-shrinkable polyvinyl chloride labels being used for Natural Ice Original(R), Natural Ice(R) Cherry and Natural Ice(R) Sport lip balms are reverse-gravure-printed in four to five vivid colors (depending on the label). The eye-catching graphics aim to increase brand awareness and add shelf appeal, among other goals. Each label extends over the cap and is perforated horizontally for cap removal. Mentholatum receives the labels on rolls for automatic application on high-speed equipment. Shrink labels can eliminate the need to stock directly decorated tubes in assorted designs, which can help reduce storage and inventory costs, according to Seal-It. The versions for Mentholatum provide a 360-deg image area for ingredients, bar codes and directions.
