Patented Sealant Rib Technology Offers Many Advantages
Monterey Mushrooms has partnered with Pacmac Inc. of Fayetteville, AR to produce their new reclosable package for fresh sliced mushrooms. For this package, Pacmac utilized the versatile Fresh-Lock Style 109 ribbed zipper on their high-performance 9500 Vertical Form Fill and Seal machine.
For this new product introduction, Monterey Mushroom took advantage of another patented packaging format in order to compete with patented transverse direction applications. On the Monterey Mushroom package, the zipper is applied in the machine direction in the fin-seal, but the graphics are turned so the zipper appears on the top of the package to give the appearance of a transverse direction application. Using this patented technology, Monterey Mushroom has more options and is not limited to using one zipper supplier or to the brand of equipment that applies the zipper. This patented method can be applied on a number of V/F/F/S machines and gives customers the option of buying from alternative suppliers, where the patented transverse direction method is limited to one zipper supplier exclusively.
