Multivac's Multi-Robot handling module H 240
Today's industrial manufacturers are confronting handling challenges with ever increasing frequency: packages must be filled or separated and positioned in the line after the packaging procedure. Tasks that normally are accomplished manually with great effort can be economically and hygienically automated with the aid of handling modules from MULTIVAC. New in the product range is the handling module H 240, equipped with two HR 460 type 4-axis robots. These can grasp products from any position and set them down in an oriented manner with up to 240 Pick & Place cycles. Despite its high performance, the Multi-Robot is particularly compact and space-saving.

These can grasp products from any position and set them down in an oriented manner with up to 240 Pick & Place cycles. Despite its high performance, the Multi-Robot is particularly compact and space-saving.
The Multi-Robot easily masters the loading of cavities with food-stuffs such as steaks or fish fillets and aids the packer in separating the packs or enclosing them in further packaging. Due to its compact construction and flexible gripper system, it is especially suited to restricted spaces and changing pack formats.
The Multi-Robot handles the ejection of NOK (“Not OK”) or substandard packs, but is also useful in universal top-loading applications, such as loading packs into boxes. Like other members of the MULTIVAC family of products, the H 240 handling system can create practically any pack model to make optimal use of secondary packaging. Even intermediate layers and dividers can be automatically inserted by the Multi-Robot. In doing this, the packs can also be repositioned in order to maximise use of the box volume. Insertion models for specific applications are automated based on programs. The Multi-Robot can also be quickly and easily converted to flexibly adapt to products and packs up to 1000 grams.
Integration in automated packaging lines
As MULTIVAC demonstrated at the interpack 2011, the Multi-Robot can be integrated into fully automated packaging lines. Operating personnel can control the handling module on the terminal of the packaging machine with the user-friendly HMI user interface. The H 240 can also be equipped with its own machine control if needed.
The hygienic stainless steel construction (MULTIVAC hygienic design) allows the option of wet cleaning of the entire unit. The open frame profile is easily accessible and without undercuts or inside corners, which greatly facilitates a thorough cleaning. With its sturdy stainless steel construction, the H 240 is very durable and also suited for use in abrasive industrial environments.
The HR 460 4-axis robots are equipped with exceptionally high-quality components. As an option, the HR 460 robots are also available in a hygienic, lightweight titanium construction.
