“One-stop solution”: Regal Food Products acquires Packaging ‘R’ Us
17 Aug 2023 --- Yorkshire-based global food manufacturer, Regal Food Products Group, is diversifying its operations with the acquisition of disposable food packaging solutions provider Packaging ‘R’ Us. The move aligns with the group’s long-term vision of expanding and strengthening its wholesale and foodservice offering while providing a diverse product range within its brand portfolio.
Regal Food Products Group boasts a portfolio of over 400 products spanning multiple brands, including household names Regal Foods and Yorkshire Baking Company. The group states that the COVID-19 pandemic and Brexit posed challenges that made the need for becoming a “one-stop solution” apparent.
“Following on from our Just Desserts Yorkshire acquisition 18 months ago, we are delighted to be bringing our first non-food and drink business into the Regal group,” says Younis Chaudhry, Regal Food Products Group CEO.
“Acquiring Packaging ‘R’ Us will allow us to develop our wholesale arm of the business while offering our customers an eclectic range that will naturally sit alongside our existing products and brands.”
Diversifying for new avenues
Packaging ‘R’ Us is a catering supplier manufacturing and specializing in disposable food packaging solutions, including foil containers, catering foil, disposable utensils and plastic containers. With the acquisition, Regal Food Products aims to homogenize services, including finished goods, ingredients and packaging.
“As a [public company], we recognized a business that presented itself with opportunities and using our existing teams, manufacturing expertise, distribution networks and channels to market, we can build and scale what is already a great business,” says Chaudhry.
“This is an exciting milestone in the Regal journey, as we not only welcome our first non-food brand into the group but relocate Packaging ‘R’ Us and its production to our main manufacturing and distribution facilities to Bradford.”
The new production site is expected to create job opportunities for the local community that the group holds at the core of the business.
