Polish Craft Beer Available in Cans From Ball
26 Aug 2013 --- The Polish brand “Piwo na Miodzie Gryczanymi” is the first canned beer brand from Jablonowo Brewery launched under the “Manufaktura Piwna” label. “Manufaktura Piwna” is an upper premium range of craft beers targeted at sophisticated consumers.
To date it has only been available in glass bottles. Now, however, this golden beer highly rated by consumers is being packaged for the first time in 500 ml aluminum cans. The cans for the regional brewery were produced by Ball Packaging Europe. They feature a special matt varnish that highlights the brand’s premium character, guaranteeing its proper positioning on the market. The unique taste of the beverage is due to the use of buckwheat honey.
Cans are the only beverage packaging that are fully sealed against the ingress of light and oxygen. They are therefore the most suitable type of packaging for a light-sensitive product such as beer, as they keep the beverage inside fresh and flavorsome for a long time. As a “mini barrel”, the can is the best solution for preserving beer quality.
According to Antti Laakkonen, Business Manager Alcoholic Beverages at Ball Europe GmbH, beverage producers are expanding their offers in response to consumer demands: “Consumers are increasingly opting for specialty beers. They tend to drink at home or during outdoor gatherings with friends. As a result, they are more likely to choose beverages in practical, convenient packaging that is easy to handle and consume from at virtually any kind of event.”
Hubert Buksowicz, President and co-owner of Jablonowo Brewery, added: “Up to now, specialty beers in Poland have only been sold in glass bottles; why shouldn’t we contradict this stereotype? We have always been pioneers and I am confident that this time we will again enjoy success!”
“Piwo na Miodzie Gryczanymi” is a dark, unfiltered beer. The Omission of the filtration stage provides better taste attributable primarily to the brewing yeast and honey. The beverage is acclaimed for its high quality and unique flavor, and this is reflected in extremely positive reviews as well as accolades such as the “Grand Prix” at “Chmielaki Krasnostawskie”, a highly regarded Polish beer competition.
