ProAmpac launches recyclable snack packaging with easy-peel technology
26 May 2023 --- ProAmpac introduces its patent-pending, ProActive Recyclable R-2200D Easy-Peel Open packaging which provides consumers with a “hassle-free” snacking experience through its easy-peel and easy-to-open sealant technology.
The R-2200D is a PE-based recyclable film designed to replace laminated, non-recyclable structures used in snack packaging, such as Biaxially-Oriented PP (BOPP) Metallized BOPP, PET and peelable PE.
The Easy-Peel Open Packaging is engineered for high-speed form, fill and seal applications. R-2200D is pre-qualified for store drop-off recycling.
ProAmpac’s chief commercial officer, Adam Grose, emphasizes that “R-2200D represents the latest addition to our ProActive Sustainability product family. This comprehensive range of packaging solutions empowers our customers to achieve their [environmentally] sustainable packaging goals.”
“Superior heat resistance”
ProActive Recyclable R-2200D Easy-Peel Open is available in three oxygen and moisture barrier levels to ensure an “ideal” product fit for each application.
ProAmpac at Interpack 2023.Amir Saffar, director of global sustainability innovation at ProAmpac, highlights that “R-2200D, like all ProAmpac R-2000 recyclable films, is engineered to deliver superior heat resistance on the outside and excellent peelable seal characteristics on the inside, making it perfect for high-speed filling operations.”
“R-2200D has very good clarity for optimal product visibility and is available in high puncture resistance to increase packaging durability.”
The R-2200D is available in gloss, registered matte or with ProAmpac’s Signature Surfaces to help brand owners meet their graphic preferences.
“R-2200D, developed by ProAmpac’s material science team, seamlessly integrates with existing high-speed filling lines without impacting packing efficiencies,” adds Grose.
ProAmpac’s flexibles
Meanwhile, Ali McNulty, market manager at ProAmpac, spoke to PackagingInsights on the Interpack trade show floor, saying that ProAmpac’s product designs can increase material strength while reducing overall usage.
Recently, ProAmpac launched an addition to its ProActive Recyclable line of products, branded Pro-Evo Recyclable – a multi-wall paper-based self-opening-sack bag certified for curbside recycling ideally suited for dry pet food.
“Petfood brands want recyclable paper-based packaging solutions. The Pro-Evo Recyclable platform fulfills ProAmpac’s promise to deliver more recyclable packaging solutions without sacrificing end-use performance and filling line efficiency,” said Ben Davis, product manager at ProAmpac.
ProAmpac and FirstWave Innovations also launched aseptic spouted pouches for baby food, fruit smoothies, coffee and spreads. The tech enables greater manufacturing flexibility for small, custom batches of shelf-stable food packages, ideal for new launches.
FirstWave’s aseptic filling technology and ProAmpac’s short-run pouching capabilities allow co-packers to launch aseptic shelf-stable liquid food in a convenient, flexible, custom-printed spouted pouch.
