Quadpack unveils recyclable makeup stick for beauty and cosmetic packaging

06 Jul 2022 --- Quadpack is introducing a Multi Stick packaging solution for solid formulas for an environmentally sustainable beauty collection. The Multi Stick, composed entirely of recyclable PP, is suitable for brands searching for packaging made with recycled materials because it has a PCR content of up to 42%.

“This collection widens the options to beauty brands for [environmentally] sustainable packaging. We are responding to a broader environmental concern for which consumers and brands are asking for solutions,” Mónica Arcos, category specialist at Quadpack, tells PersonalCareInsights.

“The pack is versatile for the different formulations it can contain. Many brands with makeup, skincare or fragrance formulas are switching to solid cosmetics. By using sticks, brands are creating a different gesture and application method. Sticks offer a big opportunity for these new products.”

The Multi Stick packaging solution is an addition to the company’s current PCR collection. Arcos adds that the PCR PP is FDA-certified.

Versatile packaging solution
Along with being environmentally friendly, Multi Stick is a multipurpose product that works with various types of cosmetics.

Quadpack adds that the Multi Stick provides for hygienic and simple application and is available in 30 g and 50 g sizes.

“The pack and mechanism is monomaterial PP, which means it can be recycled as a whole. Also, it can be produced with PCR material, helping to reduce packaging waste and increasing circularity.”

“We are hoping to make all our packaging reach an advanced level of sustainability by 2025. Recycled material is a key element in boosting the circularity of our range, alongside other [environmentally] sustainable materials, eco-design, light-weighting and monomaterial solutions.”

Quadpack’s PCR range
The multipurpose product works with various types of cosmetics.The company’s collection includes PET lipstick, a practical and environmentally friendly choice for fashionable color cosmetics brands since it is made entirely of recyclable PET and available with up to 100% PCR content.

According to Quadpack, the Simply Top Tottle is a recyclable pack with up to 48% PCR content and is suitable for various skincare and makeup formulas. It is flexible and can be used face up and down.

Lastly, the Flat Head Round Tube is pegged as a reusable tube offered in three different capacities and can be made with up to 19% PCR content.

In the news
In recent news, Quadpack and Aptar Beauty + Home, a producer of beauty dispensing solutions, developed the Iconic Woodacity lipstick, a refillable lipstick package. The two companies merged their knowledge of stick and wood mechanisms to create the product.

In other developments, Quadpack showcased its line of airless bottle products – the new Canvas Airless line – that uses 15% less plastic.

Quadpack previously partnered with biodegradable packaging supplier Sulapac to produce a 30 ml biodegradable container for cosmetics company i+m’s deodorant cream.
