Mar 14 2012 --- Schreiner MediPharm has developed the new Pharma-Cushion label specifically for transporting pharmaceutical glass containers. The intelligent label protects the sensitive vials from glass breakage by means of an integrated special layer which avoids the need for complex secondary packaging.

The Pharma-Cushion label by Schreiner MediPharm is equipped with a foam layer on the back of the label that wraps around the glass container like a protective cushion. This allows the vials filled with pharmaceuticals to be transported in boxes without any additional packaging and to reach the recipient undamaged. In addition to preventing financial losses, this solution minimizes health hazards as certain preparations harbor the risk of releasing toxic substances through damaged vials. The consistent integrity of the container is ensured as well which avoids contamination of the drugs inside the container. Furthermore, the label prevents contamination of other packaging materials by liquids escaping from the container and, last but not least, protects healthcare personnel from injuries that may be caused by broken vials.
