Schwelmer Beer Introduces its Unique 11.2 oz (.33 liter) Flip-Top-Bottle

Schwelmer Beer Imports North America, Inc. introduces its new stylish 11.2 oz (.33 liter) "Steinie-Flip-Top" bottle in the American market adding a small brother to the already bestselling lineup of 16.9 oz (.5 liter) Flip-Top-Bottles.

Better quality, better taste, and a "stand out" look are for many beer lovers already sufficient reasons to rave about the classic flip-top bottle. Additionally it is much more fun to open: The unique "pop" sound immediately generates certain reactions in the brain of most of those who drink beer, as independent studies have shown. People just know that the sound is associated to beer and freshness.

Schwelmer Beer now also imports three of its four beer brands in the small bottles: The classic "Pils"; the unique "Bernstein" (Amber) and the "Alt" (Dark Ale). The popular "Weizen" or wheat beer will continue to be sold exclusively in the 16.9 oz (.5 liter) bottle.

"It is important to us that our beer is presented in bottles of the highest quality" said Lars Dahlhaus, President of Schwelmer, "we sell a premium beer and therefore we need premium bottles. The style update to Schwelmer's new "Steinie" bottle will make it even more fun to drink our beers, because our customers already love the Flip-Tops."

The classic flip-top was invented in 1875 by Nicolai Fritzner in Germany, who solved the existing problem of making beer bottles with their high interior pressure ready to transport. It quickly became the main bottle-top for beer bottles worldwide. After only 30 years, the flip-top started to be replaced by the "Crown Cap", which was invented by the American William Painter in 1892. Cost-effectiveness and mass production made the "Crown Cork" quickly the choice of all large beer brands, before it brought the flip-top bottle almost to extinction in the 1950's.

However, in the last 20 years, various European premium beer brands have begun to re-introduce the flip-top bottle; re-discovering its advantages. Mainly, the most functional feature of the flip-top-bottle is it can be resealed, so the beer inside stays fresh. The flip-top bottle always closes tightly. This gives the consumer the chance to enjoy the same bottle of beer over an extended period of time, without the fear of flat taste.

(Although, probably no consumer would save something for later from the .33 liter after tasting the first bit of Schwelmer Beer). Aside from sheer ascetics, the functionality was just one more reason the Flip-Top was a "no-brainer".
