Shire Foods Goes with the 'Flow' from National Flexible

15/01/08 Shire Foods, the Warwickshire based pie manufacturer, has achieved super-fast turnaround on a contract to supply a new range of flow-wrapped pies to Tesco thanks to help from packaging specialists National Flexible.

Three variants of flow-wrapped pies - Steak & Ale, Chicken Balti and Jumbo Cornish - went into selected Tesco stores in Warwickshire under Shire Foods' Famous Pies brand.

Andy Smith, National Flexible's Marketing Manager, said the order provided further evidence of the company's ability to react to short delivery times.

"We delivered the packaging film within two weeks of receiving their order - from there the product was packed and on the shelves within days," he said. "Our ability to respond quickly is a key factor when our customers have to meet tight deadlines from the multiples."

Michael Tzirki, Managing Director at Shire Foods, said: "We were amazed at how fast they responded. Everyone went that extra mile to ensure we delivered to Tesco on time. The print quality is excellent and the range has great shelf appeal."

National Flexible meets short lead times by holding base film materials in stock for printing and lamination. Finished printed reels are held for customers so lead times on repeat orders can be as short as 24 hours.
