Shrink Labels Pump up Product Security
These labels, gravure-printed in five colors plus one spot color, incorporate a perforated neck surrounding the cap, providing important tamper evidence for added product protection and security.
22/04/08 Nutrex Research of Oviedo, FL, manufactures a line of encapsulated liquid anabolic workout formulas and fat burners that it markets on-line and through GNC, Vitamin Shoppe, Vitamin World, and other health food stores.
Until recently, the company was using pressure-sensitive labels on its containers. Now Nutrex has converted all its products to full-body PVC shrink sleeve labels supplied by Seal-It, Inc. (www.sealitinc.com), a division of Printpack, using labeling equipment supplied by Axon Corp.-Styrotech (www.axoncorp.com). These labels, gravure-printed in five colors plus one spot color, incorporate a perforated neck surrounding the cap, providing important tamper evidence for added product protection and security.
The PET containers, supplied by Alpha Packaging (www.alphap.com), range in size from 250 cc to 600 cc. The PET closures are supplied by TricorBraun (www.tricorbraun.com).
Nutrex director of sales Billy Amicarelle says, "In addition to the built-in tamper-evidence, we found the additional printable surface of the full-body labels very appealing. It gives us the opportunity to market the uniqueness of our products and helps us update the package appearance with a clean, fresh look."
Nutrex utilizes a contract packer (identity not disclosed) to package its products. The average retail price of the Nutrex products, depending on variety and container size, ranges from $39.95 to $59.95. Amicarelle notes that consumer reception to the new labels has been very positive.
