Silgan White Cap and Amcor White Cap Merge
As a result of the merger the activities of the company will remain unchanged. Silgan White Cap will continue to concentrate on providing quality closures and ensure the continuing supply of closures and service as its main business activity.
11/08/06 The merger of Amcor White Cap, producers of closures throughout Europe, Asia and South America and the North American packaging company Silgan Holdings Inc. has been concluded.
The Amcor White Cap product group will now be known as Silgan White Cap Europe/Asia.
The merger in Europe became effective from 1st June 2006. In Asia and South America it will be effective at a later date due to local legal requirements.
As a result of the merger the activities of the company will remain unchanged. Silgan White Cap will continue to concentrate on providing its customers with quality closures and ensure the continuing supply of closures and service as its main business activity.
With the merger White Cap Inc., USA, already purchased by Silgan from Amcor in 2003 and Amcor White Cap will be unified.
The Silgan White Cap Europe/Asia business will continue to be headquartered in Hannover, Germany and be led by Peter Konieczny, President, and his current management team. Peter will report directly to Silgan Holdings Inc., with responsibility for continuing to develop the closure business in all markets.
The merger will create one of the largest producers of vacuum closures in the world. Two divisions have been created covering the activities in Europe/Asia and the Americas respectively.
With 2,500 employees in 15 production locations, 20 billion metal, plastic and composite closures will be produced every year.
12 plants will specialise in the manufacture of Twist-Off and Press-On Twist-Off PT metal vacuum closures for the sealing of glass-packaged foodstuffs and non-carbonated beverages.
3 plants will produce the Plasti-Twist closure for non-carbonated beverages and liquid foods.
New product ideas will now be available for Europe/Asia from the American market and vice-versa. These will include cap design, container shapes, pack appearance and packaging trends. Joint developments such as Plasti-Twist will be progressed. Customers will greatly benefit as a result.
Silgan White Cap’s engineers, scientists and technicians will be totally focused on new product development. Total System Solution will be the key message; whatever the container, the company has the right closure.
