Success with Sunnyland for new diameter 33mm Plasti-Twist closure
Amcor White Cap launched its 33mm Plasti-Twist closure in the summer of 2004. Sunnyland Belgium, a leading European juices producer, has chosen the new diameter for many of its hot fill juices and juice based products, to complement new PET containers produced in-house. In Belgium, the newly launched “Sunland Plus” juices, nectars and ABC juices are all packed in PET bottles and feature the 33mm Plasti-Twist closure.

Sunnyland Belgium, a leading European juices producer, has chosen the new diameter for many of its hot fill juices and juice based products, to complement new PET containers produced in-house. In Belgium, the newly launched “Sunland Plus” juices, nectars and ABC juices are all packed in PET bottles and feature the 33mm Plasti-Twist closure. These replace previously used cartons. The economic benefits of this move, plus the successful adoption of the 33mm Plasti-Twist closure, have led to an 18% increase in sales volume since the launch, according to Sunnyland Belgium. In France, Sunnyland has chosen the 33mm Plasti-Twist closure to complement new PET bottles for its Goa brand of juices and nectars. The attractive packaging, which replaces previously used glass containers, is available in 1 litre, 500ml and 330ml sizes and features Amcor White Cap’s 33mm Plasti-Twist cap; a 1.5 litre version is also planned. Amcor White Cap’s 33mm Plasti-Twist closure is a two-piece compression moulded plastic closure primarily for use in hot fill applications. Produced in a polypropylene material at its site near Krakow, Poland, the closure features a compression moulded liner, available with or without barrier properties. It has 2 threads for better application and a flat liner profile for sealing of PET bottles. The cap also incorporates a patented drop-down tamper evident band. Because the 33mm closure, (a range extension to the company’s 38mm Plasti-Twist and 38mm Plasti-Twist Triple Seal caps), has a smaller diameter and surface, it guarantees less oxygen permeation – an important customer benefit. It is suitable for many liquid food and still beverage applications and is compatible with plastic containers in all materials. The closure can also be used for cold fill requirements. The launch with Sunnyland further illustrates that: “Whatever the container is made of, Amcor White Cap has the closure.” Amcor White Cap is a multinational producer of metal, plastic and composite closures for oxygen-sensitive, vacuum-packaged and aseptically packaged food products and still beverages.
