Tetley is bringing a new exotic tea experience to the UK with Chaya Chai Latte. Chaya (pronounced: 'Ch-eye-a') is a deliciously spicy tea served with steamed milk and froth. The recipe is inspired by Chai, the traditional Indian hot drink. First introduced in January 2005 and now in 70 independent coffee and tea shops in the London area, Chaya brings a new indulgent, yet natural tea experience to a booming UK café society. A shot of Chaya is mixed with milk and froth in true latte style. London cafés have responded well to the new drink: - "I think my customers are looking for something like this," said the manager of the Therapy Coffee Bar. Tetley has taken one of India's finest Chai recipes made with 100% fresh and natural ingredients brewed and tasted it to perfection and then asked Elopak to package the experience. Three variants; Chaya Black, Chaya Green and Chaya Red are delivered to cafés and shops in 500ml Diamond Pure-Pak® cartons with screw cap. The cartons are easy to handle, and communicate the natural, fresh and exotic image of Chaya. 'Sugar and spice make Chaya nice' Tetley searched, explored and tasted ingredients until it discovered the best blend for the British palette. Chaya is a traditional fusion of cardamom, cinnamon, and cloves with three unique tastes for Black, Green and Red Chaya. All the flavour has been extracted from these spices and then sweetened with sugar. According to Tetley, unsweetened tea just does not taste the same hence the mantra: 'sugar and spice to make Chaya nice.' Chaya Black is a classic Chai, made from Indian black tea spiced up with an infusion of Cinnamon, Cardamom, Vanilla and Honey. Chaya Green is a milder tea made from fresh, unfermented green leaves from Far Eastern tea plants. Infused with cinnamon and a hint of clove, Chaya Green is slightly sweetened with sugar. Chaya Red, also known as Rooibos is fired with black pepper and infused with orange and cardamom. Chaya Red is naturally caffeine free. Body and Mind Traditionally, some of the spices in Chai are used to boost the mind, body and spirit. Cardamom has been beneficially linked with the lungs and the stomach. Cinnamon is rumoured to be good for your kidneys and blood circulation. Indians believe that Chai can make you look beautiful.
