Thermoform package suspends implants

Designed for use with Exactech orthopedic implants, the Acumatch® M-Series Metaphyseal packaging system incorporates an inner tray and a set of vertical inserts that can be placed in various positions to accommodate different implant sizes.

Designed for use with Exactech orthopedic implants, the Acumatch® M-Series Metaphyseal packaging system incorporates an inner tray and a set of vertical inserts that can be placed in various positions to accommodate different implant sizes. The material used for the tray inserts is a semi-rigid copolyester film, supplied by Eastman Chemical Co. Each of the two vertical sidewall inserts includes a protruding male component, which when inserted into the female ends of the product, suspend the implants, preventing abrading. The clear trays enable medical users to visually verify the package contents without having to break the sterile seal, which features a Tyvek® lid. The package won an Ameristar Award in 2003 and a 3M Integrity Award for packaging innovation.
