Timestrip into alliance with Nestle
To conduct commercial trials of its smart labels.
19/09/05 Timestrip, based at Hitchin in Hertfordshire, that makes a revolutionary label telling people when food is unsafe to eat is celebrating an alliance with multinational Nestle.
Timestrip will conduct commercial trials of its smart labels which are activated as soon as the cap or lid of a product is opened.
Positive results could see the technology incorporated into products supplied by Nestle to caterers and restaurants to help them know when food is about to go off.
Timestrip was founded four years ago to manufacture the labels, which contain a liquid which migrates across a calendar of days to show how long a product has been in use. The labels were initially designed to stick on to the side of cans and food wrapped in cling film, foil or freezer bags and left in the fridge.
Timestrip has found a way of integrating them into packaging and its latest innovation was launched at a trade fair in the German city of Dusseldorf in April.
