GT1V, which has been designed by UK-based Proseal, includes a vacuum packaging system that offers residual gas levels at less than 1%. This exceeds the gas flushing capabilities of many modified atmosphere (MAP) applications, claimed the firm.
With fresh products such as meat and poultry, it is essential that gas levels remain below 1% in order to ensure product quality, the company added.
Full vacuum system
“It is able to provide a full vacuum system. For most MAP applications gas flushing is sufficient but there are some fresh products where residual gas levels need to be less than 1% so this model is able to meet these requirements,” Proseal director Rob Hargreaves said.
The GT1V is Proseal’s latest offering in its range of GT tray sealers. The touch screen operated development delivers a typical running speed of eight cycles per minute – although certain application cycles can increase to as many as 11 per minute.
“The machine has been developed to retain the same high speed capabilities of Proseal’s GT range,” added Hargreaves.
Maximum hygiene
The development, which Proseal claim is food industry approved, comes complete with wash-down protection – offering packaging firms “maximum hygiene and easy maintenance.” It has been designed to accept randomly spaced trays from any conveyor – making it fully and easily integrated with other line equipment, the company added.
An electronic gas mixer integration option, through which gas mixtures can be altered, and the ability to run multiple depth trays offers packagers additional change-over benefits, it added.
A second GT1V model is in development and will focus on skin pack applications – which are growing in popularity for fish and meat.
