The company says the new LegiJet Model ML500 for cartons, cases and other outer packaging sets new standards in the quality of the finished codes, thanks to the incorporation of a fully addressable, 500-nozzle printhead that produces codes up to 2.8" high - one of the tallest in the industry.
WEBER Marking Systems, of Tranent, East Lothian, has launched its first ink jet printer for the UK market. The company says the new LegiJet Model ML500 for cartons, cases and other outer packaging sets new standards in the quality of the finished codes, thanks to the incorporation of a fully addressable, 500-nozzle printhead that produces codes up to 2.8" high - one of the tallest in the industry. Using Xaar head technology, the ML500 uses all 500 nozzles when creating a code or image, unlike more typical print heads that only use a small fraction of their available nozzles at any one time. This enables the ML500 to produce single and 2D barcodes, variable-sized text, graphics and logos of excellent quality, with reliable, 180dpi clarity at up to 180 feet/minute. Importantly, large size codes and graphics can now be created from a single print head. In the past, such sizes could typically only be achieved by stacking a number of printheads together, which could result in a loss of quality in the finished code. Font sizes range from five points up to 280 points (2.8" high), with capital and lower-case letters, plus bold and italic options as standard features.
