Weekly Roundup: Coveris Group finalizes sale of Rigid packaging unit, musical Tic Tac boxes hit shelves

Mac Papers has completed the acquisition of Wilkerson Packaging while Coveris Group and Lindsay Goldberg LLC have finalized the transition of the Coveris Rigid packaging business. Ferrero and CCL Label Hohenems (Austria) have partnered to deliver on an innovative Tic Tac promotion featuring musical boxes.

In brief: Appointments and retirements
Guy Gecht, the long-time CEO at EFI (Electrics for Imaging), is stepping down from the position after 19 years. Gecht will continue to serve as CEO until his replacement is named and has committed to working closely with the new CEO to ensure a successful transition, the company report. Gecht will remain as a member of the company’s board of directors following the CEO change.

In brief: Acquisitions, partnerships and sales
Mac Papers has completed the acquisition of Wilkerson Packaging, an Atlanta-based packaging and facility supplies distribution business. “Mac Papers is pleased that Paul Wilkerson entrusted us with the solid packaging business Paul and his team have built,” says Sutton McGehee, Mac Papers President. “This acquisition reflects our commitment to offering a broad, diversified product lineup from best-in-class suppliers, and continuing to grow the packaging business alongside our paper and print, facility supplies and office products segments.” The Wilkerson acquisition is the most recent in a long line of packaging acquisitions Mac Papers has made over the past six years.

Coveris Group and Lindsay Goldberg LLC, global private equity investors, have finalized the transition of the Rigid packaging business “Coveris Rigid,” summarized under Coveris Holdings S.A. to Lindsay Goldberg LLC. Coveris Rigid has a turnover of €560m, 18 manufacturing sites and 3,500 employees and supplies plastic packaging for dairy & spreads, processed & fresh food and the food service industry. Lindsay Goldberg´s packaging expertise and its global network aim to allow Coveris Rigid to continue its development into a preferred supplier for innovative packing solutions with an international footprint.

In brief: Product launches and certifications
Ferrero is offering a new promotion on its Tic Tac packs in Germany with CCL Label Hohenems (Austria) producing the sleeves. In the promotion, the consumer who opens the Tic Tac pack that plays music to them automatically will be the winners of an international trip. A tamper-evident sleeve is used to guarantee the security of competition, and CCL used high gloss silver to enhance the appearance of the product further.
