Interpack 2023: Tna Solutions showcases processing and packaging solutions for food manufacturers
07 Jul 2023 | Tna Solutions
Thiago Roriz, chief operating officer at tna Solutions, says that due to high energy cost and labor-related challenges, tna Solutions is looking toward automation to facilitate operations. The company exhibited the latest iteration of its flagship vertical form fill and seal packaging system, the tna robag 3e, for the first time in Europe along with the tna auto-splice 3. It also offered visitors a chance to step off the event floor and into a virtual factory via tna’s Extended Reality technology.
This is Rataka Sakaria for Packaging Insights.
I'm at Interpc 2023 in Dusseldorf, Germany, and I'm at the Solutions booth talking to Thiago Rori, who is the chief operating officer.
Thiago, could you please introduce yourself and the company to us?
Hello, my name is Thiago.
I'm chief of operations officer in.
My role in the company is really to deploy our strategic goals.
And I'm based out of Sydney, Australia, where the company comes from.
We are a manufacturer of food processing equipment.
Right, so what are the major themes and trends that you're tapping into at InterAC 2023?
We hear all of our customers bringing to us sustainability related topics.
For us, sustainability means we look at it from a product and from a business perspective, and we have great innovations, some products that we brought to the show to help us to tackle those new trends.
And what are the challenges related to food packaging and how are you tackling them?
In specifically what we see as a challenge is the high cost of energy.
And also labor related challenges.
So in labor we're looking at availability of labor, the experience of the labor, and the high turnover.
So considering these themes and trends and challenges, what are the innovations that is presenting here at the trade show?
All our innovations are looking at automating and making the life of an operator easier as as bringing higher productivity to our equipment.
What we have here in the show is an auto splice system that's a machine that will help to reduce the splicing time.
Vertical form fuel and seal packaging machines that reduce the number of operators so we can maximize the utilization of our equipment, having one operator looking after more packaging systems.
We are also showing here for the first time our case packer system.
Also, that machine is replacing a very repetitive manual process where operators take the bags, put them into a box.
Now that has been automated to eliminate that role.
When we're looking at replacing technology, replacing labor with technology, we are also thinking of the mental health of the current operators.
So we want to make the life of Our operators better.
We want to have more qualified operators operating the machines.
Any repetitive menu or job that we have, we are looking at replacing them with new machines, with the ongoing regulatory crackdown on food safety and packaging waste, what are your recommendations to package for environmental sustainability?
We always work very closely with our customers.
We always try to address any customer needs.
So in terms of packaging, what we see is most of the industry is going for the compostable or any biodegradable or sustainable.
Type of film.
We ensure that we hear our customers and work with our suppliers, so we adjust our technologies to work with the new types of films, so we are enabling our customers to work with the most sustainable type of film.
Thank you for joining us here today, Thiago.
It was lovely having you.
Thank you very much.
