Environmental sustainability remains a major trend, with consumers globally opting for biodegradable packaging for dairy products. Recyclable was the leading sustainable packaging claim, while reusable saw the fastest growth in launches.

Trends in hot drink packaging

Innova Market Insight data shows an 8% increase in global Hot Drink packaging launches between October 2020 and September 2025. During this period, 38% of consumers worldwide cited food quality preservation when purchasing Coffee, highlighting the importance of packaging. Folded boxes emerged as the dominant packaging format for Hot Drink launches, with carton materials leading globally, while the adoption of bio-based materials continued to grow.

Circular economy: Fiber-based

Innova Market Insights data shows an increase in global F&B launches using fiber-based packaging. Europe led these launches, accounting for 42% of NPD. The Bakery category emerged as the top segment for product launches utilizing fiber-based packaging, while Hot Drinks launches also showed an upward trend in the adoption of such packaging.
