PepsiCo extends SodaStream with sparkling water carbonation and flavor personalization
12 Jan 2022 --- PepsiCo’s SodaStream is introducing a new addition to its line-up of sparkling water makers, branded Art. Along with avoiding the purchase of plastic bottles, consumers can carbonate or add flavor to flat water at home.
“SodaStream enables consumers to enjoy endless good bubbles at home, without hassle, and help save the planet,” the company states.
“SodaStream bubbles are better for the consumer – healthy, easy to make, light to carry – and better for the planet – replacing up to thousands of single-use plastic bottles with one reusable SodaStream bottle,” adds Mark Fenton, general manager at SodaStream US.
Personalizing sparkling water
SodaStream’s Art is made to “inspire” consumers to customize their sparkling water’s carbonation level and flavor.
“In addition to the new, sophisticated look, consumers can rely on the ease-of-use and superior quality they have come to know and love with SodaStream. We can’t wait to get this machine in the hands of our fans,” says Fenton.
Useful insights
Last year, SodaStream launched the Terra, which together with its most recent Art launch, features new patent-pending Quick Connect technology, enabling a seamless cylinder connection in one simple click.
SodaStream can replace thousands of single-use plastic bottles with one reusable bottle.Furthermore, the Art comes with a Bisphenol A-free 1 L dishwasher safe reusable bottle, decreasing single-use plastic bottle consumption.
Consumers can experience the art of making fresh sparkling water when the machine goes on sale exclusively at Bed Bath & Beyond, beginning January 12, 2022, for US$129.99.
“At that time, the machine will be available in Black and White. In March 2022, the Art will be available in Black, White, Misty Blue and Mandarin Red via SodaStream.com and other retailers nationwide,” shares Fenton.
PepsiCo’s environmental moves
Last year, PepsiCo also announced its shift toward positive agriculture by supporting regenerative planting practices and circular packaging, aiming at net-zero emissions, net water-positivity and more environmentally sustainable packaging solutions.
SodaStream received criticism in 2014 after operating in the Israeli occupied West Bank. Actress Scarlett Johansson, who was promoting the product at the time, had lost her Oxfam ambassadorship after continuous support for the company’s production site in an Israeli settlement. In 2015, SodaStream moved its location to Israel’s Negev Desert after continuous international criticism.
