Amcor PET Packaging has created a custom-designed bottle for an exciting new sports drink that combines the expertise of drinks manufacturer Calypso with the high profile of the Umbro brand.
Umbro Pro>Performance is an isotonic sports drink available in orange and citrus flavours. Aimed at sports men and women of all ages, a light and refreshing taste is promised in addition to its nutritional benefits. The lightweight and unbreakable properties of PET are highly valuable in the sports drink market, enabling the portability that is essential to "on-the-move" drinking. The 500ml transparent bottle has been designed by Amcor's Centre of Excellence in Brecht, Belgium. The innovative design incorporates a sports cap and is embossed with the Umbro logo.
The sports drink market is developing rapidly, with 50% growth in the past two years. Calypso and Umbro say that they are bringing something new and exciting to the market with Umbro Pro>Performance. Certainly, the product stands to benefit strongly from its association with the Umbro name. In addition to the brand recognition provided by Umbro's sportswear and sponsorship activities, the company spends around £70 million on brand promotion.
The bottle is produced at the Amcor plant in Gresford UK.
